Casella di testo: 1) AGNONE BAGNI is a large sand playa beach located 5 km from Baia del Gambero.         Casella di testo: 3) moving 8 km to the south we arrive to AUGUSTA,  the name of this town is related to "Augusto"  Federico II from Swabia who founded the city in 1232. The historical center is a little  island linked to the Land through two bridges. One of them is recent construction. The other one was built at the city construction date and is called "Porta Spagnola" because was the symbol of Spanish domain in Sicily (here beside the picture). Today the port of Augusta, due to its strategic position is one of the most important in Italy as military and commercial harbor.  

 

 

Casella di testo: 5) moving again to the south for 30 km, we reach the famous NOTO. This greek city is know worldwide for its baroque stile that characterizes the town and the particular yellow stone by which are built the main houses. Every year, during the third Sunday of May, is taken the manifestation called "Infiorata di Noto" , during which the street "Corrado Nicolaci" is painted by real flowers. It is incredibly suggestive to visit and see   the streets painted with all the color of the main flowers.  

 

Casella di testo: 6) going on for other 10 km from Noto, we will reach the natural reserve of VENDICARI. In this natural paradise (reachable by walking for half an hour), seems that the time is stopped:  the sound of the water, the sing of the birds, inside the no-contaminate nature without buildings. There are also the rests of Byzantine period, with an ancient deposit used to stock the fish. Near Vendicari there is the immense sand playa of San Lorenzo: the green water is ideal to take a swim immerse in the nature.

     Casella di testo: 2)  Located in the middle of Ionian sea, BRUCOLI is the  closest cultural destination, situated 3.9 km form Baia del Gambero in South direction.  This small and picturesque town is siuated among Catania and Syracuse in a place surrounded by a very beautiful scenario in which there is, on one side the blue color  of the  Ionian water, and,  on the other side the color of the olivo's  fields. It seems like a painter has used all the colors of his palette to paint and realize Brucoli's different seaside scenario. Brucoli's origins are related to the presence of the Greek cologne named "Trotilon". The ancient came and remained in this zone due to the hospitality of this locality, for the comfortable climate and all the fruit plants present in this area  In the Neolithic period the ancients   realized their house inside the caves , naturally excavated by the sea in the white rocks on the seaside walls. At the end Of the little town   you can visit the fortress-Castle, close to the sea.        Casella di testo: 4) Located 27 km from Augusta, we are now arriving to SYRACUSE, one of the most  historical town over the world, considering that in this place have been found  the rest of population over the different periods: prehistorical, Greek, Roman and Arabian. At the entrance of this city you can find the famous Greek theatre, which is today active with historical tragedies and actual programs. The most ancient Part Of Syracuse is called "Ortigia". It's a must top visit this little island linked to the Land by three bridges, and very famous for its particular old houses in front of the sea. The historical age of the city (originally called "Aretusea") began in 734 B.C. when Archia, coming from Corinto, reachs Ortigia's cost, defeats the "Siculi" population and  found the colony of Syracuse.                                                     

Casella di testo: 7) If we move 13 km form Vendicari we finally reach the southern part of Sicily and Italy called Porto Palo (Capo Passero). Here the nature is still not contaminated by industries and buildings. The main activities here remain the agriculture and fishing Capo Passero, divides the Ionian sea (in the east) and the Mediterranean sea (in the west side) The peculiarity of this place is the Island called " Isola dell Correnti" where, from the blue color of the sea you can distinguish the castle built in the little island.
